Two-Factor Authentication
Add an extra layer of security to your account
Two-factor authentication (2FA) protects your account by requiring a verification code in addition to your password when signing in.
How It Works
When 2FA is enabled:
Enter Password
Sign in with your email and password as usual
Receive Code
A 6-digit verification code is sent to your email
Enter Code
Enter the code to complete sign-in (valid for 10 minutes)
Enabling 2FA
- Sign in to your anonymize.today account
- Go to Settings → Security
- Find the Two-Factor Authentication section
- Click Enable 2FA
- Verify your email by entering the code sent to you

We strongly recommend enabling 2FA, especially if you process sensitive data or use the API.

2FA with Desktop App & Add-in
When using the Desktop App or Office Add-in with 2FA enabled:
Browser-Based Auth
Desktop and Office apps use browser-based authentication. When you sign in, a browser window opens where you complete the full authentication flow including 2FA.
Persistent Sessions
Once authenticated, your session persists for 30 days. You won't need to enter 2FA codes repeatedly unless you sign out or the session expires.
Disabling 2FA
Warning
Disabling 2FA reduces your account security. Only disable if absolutely necessary.
To disable 2FA:
- Go to Settings → Security
- Find the Two-Factor Authentication section
- Click Disable 2FA
- Enter the verification code sent to your email
- Confirm the action
Account Recovery
Lost Access to Email?
If you've lost access to your email and have 2FA enabled:
- Contact support at support@anonymize.today
- Provide verification of your identity
- Support will verify and help recover your account
Recovery Process
Account recovery requires verification to protect your data:
- Answer security questions (if set up)
- Verify payment information (for paid accounts)
- Verify account activity history
Recovery typically takes 1-3 business days for security verification.
